Casa Portuguesa, Lisboa, Portugal, 2005 call for concepts
Carlos Sant’Ana and Isabella Rusconi with Inês Melo e Ricardo
Sousa
History repeats. For each action, there is a reaction, occasionally a fast answer, most of the times a late one. And this is the current situation. We live in new way, but we habit the house in the old way. Our construction concept is still a neo-bourgois model, that is clearly over due. What do we look for? Now one really nows, so we it is impossible to find a unique universal answer. Each different starting point lead us to a different ending, that turns heterogeneous into the most important factor in contemporary design.
The society looks for new models, new references with the capacity to make us dream of a better future. A turn into equality and a return to informality as a social anti-tendency. In what way can the house become a mirror to our new soul? By searching for an understanding of this condition as a starting point to the spatial conception of the "new house". "É uma Casa Portuguesa? com certeza…"
