SA28 casa Angola, Angola,
2004
Carlos Sant’Ana com Isabella Rusconi, Inês Melo
Tropical Weather and low financial capacity. This was the proposed challenge to think of a low cost industrial production house to Angola. The starting point is a building cost of 50€/m2. The necessity is to provide thermal comfort to the house, something forgot until now. Casa Angola is a composition system that grows by addition depending of the social and economical conditions. The construction techniques are traditional. The innovation is the outer skin made with cheap materials from the region like Bamboo, Wood, etc. The thermal inertia of this protective skin is lower than the house allowing a better control of day/night changes. The over-dimension and ventilation of the air chamber work for cooling the house. Mission accomplished.
