SA15 Centro de Monitorização e Interpretação Ambiental, Bragança, 2003, competition by invitation
Carlos Sant’Ana with Frederic Guillaud, Vicki Lenz, Mathilde Felix-Faure, Helga Constantino
A strategical move is made to free the ground, allowing a continuity in the Rio Fervença Park. People continuously flow in the new public space. The CMIA articulates and controls. The difference between the given and the proposed program is consequence of a critical reading of the Museum concept integrated in the CMIA. We propose a fusion, where the exhibition space is diffuse in the first floor and functionally integrated. The radial configuration is from the necessity of maximising security while minimising staff. The reception area gets important, and consequently gets more area. The exhibition room is multi-purpose and the cafeteria is the space to stay and relax. The building is part of the landscape.
